My roots include e-government, programming and lingerie.  

Hey, I'm Danae! 

I'm Chief Marketing Officer at Care Sourcer - the UK’s first comparison and matching site for care.

Before that I was Head of Awareness at FreeAgent, who make award-winning accounting software for freelancers and micro-businesses.  I joined FreeAgent when they were at about 30 employees, and left after their IPO, when they were about 140 employees.  During my five years at FreeAgent, I built the company's content team and content strategy, kicked off their analytics strategy and data science team, and looked after their PR, Events, social media, and content team.

Before FreeAgent, I worked as a digital marketer at Barrie & Hibbert (now Moody's Analytics), a risk management consultancy and software developer for insurers and banks.  I started at Barrie & Hibbert as a designer and developer, building financial planning tools based on stochastic projections of investments.  

I'm originally from Tennessee, and I moved to Edinburgh to work at Edinburgh Napier University's International Teledemocracy Centre, where I built a blogging platform for community councils and also worked on the Scottish Parliament's first e-petitioning system.  

I also ran a side business as a digital publisher for over five years - the site was called Knickers, and I was a lingerie expert and writer who talked about everything from bra sizing to self-confidence.

Danae Shell is Chief Marketing Officer at Care Sourcer, the UK’s first comparison and matching site for care.  A native Tennessean, Danae moved to Scotland after university and has worked in the Scottish tech industry ever since.  She has worked as a software developer, UX designer, and researcher before settling in as a marketer at FreeAgent during their scale-up period.
